#### Job Overview
SNV’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives aim to provide improved drinking water services and sanitary facilities to 5 million people from 2019 to 2022. We believe access to water and sanitation is a human right and work alongside local governments to ensure area-wide services. Our efforts focus on enhancing environmental health by minimizing disease transmission and reducing untreated waste and wastewater.
Our long-term sustainability goals include strengthening public governance in WASH services, supporting institutional changes, and developing financially viable solutions. We engage civil society and the private sector in advocacy and operations while promoting dialogue about evolving needs in response to urbanization and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Currently, SNV Nepal operates in four of the seven provinces, with our primary office in Kathmandu and project offices in various provinces. We implement four major WASH projects that align with Nepal’s development priorities and support the new federal structure at federal, provincial, and local levels.
#### Role Responsibilities
The WASH Sector Leader will:
1. Oversee the quality of WASH program content, business development, resource mobilization, and technical advisory services.
2. Manage donor reporting and relationships within the country.
3. Enhance the visibility and quality of our WASH programs and establish SNV’s position within the national WASH sector.
4. Act as the in-country Project Manager for the Urban Sanitation and Hygiene for Health and Development (USHHD) project.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing country-level WASH strategies aligned with corporate frameworks.
- Leading complex assignments and setting benchmarks for advisory services.
- Managing effective program delivery, financial oversight, and donor reporting.
- Securing funding for innovative WASH programs and leading a team of advisors and consultants.
- Ensuring monitoring and evaluation practices align with SNV’s internal frameworks.
- Fostering stakeholder relationships to enhance SNV’s market position and participate in networks.
- Facilitating knowledge development and learning in collaboration with SNV’s global team.
#### Qualifications
- Advanced academic qualification in WASH or a related field.
- Over 7 years of experience in WASH service delivery, including at least 3 years in a management role.
- Deep understanding of sustainable WASH service delivery beyond community level.
- International work experience and capability to manage multicultural teams.
- Strong skills in resource mobilization, program design, proposal writing, and donor relationship management.
- Proven project management experience, particularly in large-scale projects.
- Established WASH networks and excellent relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) is essential.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated achiever with strong intercultural leadership, teamwork, coaching, communication, networking, and organizational skills.

- **Contract Type**: 0.8-1.0 FTE
- **Duration**: 1 year with a strong possibility for extension

- **Travel**: Approximately 20% in-country (COVID permitting)
