Kathmandu, March 26: Crowded public places in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, have been banned from playing Fagu. According to the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, it has been banned to play Holi in public places due to the increased risk of corona virus epidemic. This year, it has fallen on March 30 in Phagu hills and valleys and on March 31 in Terai.

Earlier, all the three district administration offices had issued a statement appealing to the families to celebrate Holi by adopting health safety measures without crowding as the corona infection was on the rise.

Chief of the Metropolitan Police Office and Additional Inspector General of Police Hari Bahadur Pal informed that the decision of the district administration offices has been extended to support the celebration of Holi in public places.

He said that the celebration of Holi by gathering crowds in the streets, chowks and public places, splashing of water, throwing of Lola and forcible painting of Abir has been banned. Around 5,000 security personnel will be mobilized for security management during the Holi festival on the same day.

Especially during the Holi festival, action will be taken against those who do not follow the traffic rules, drive under the influence of alcohol, do not use helmets on motorcycles and carry more passengers than their capacity. In addition, the use of masks has been made mandatory for the general public.

Stating that the corona infection epidemic may increase due to unsafe movement along the Nepal-India open border, the metropolitan police has urged the use of general health safety standards masks, social distance, sanitation and sanitizer.

Health workers say that the epidemic can be spread by playing indiscriminately with the unsafe crowds during the Holi festival as the infection is high not only in neighboring India but also in Nepal.
