Kathmandu, March 25: Kyrgyzstan has held Nepal to a goalless draw. Nepal drew 0-0 against Kyrgyzstan in the second match of the Three Nations Cup Football Tournament. When both the teams share the points, the team that will reach the final will be decided by the match between Nepal and Bangladesh on Saturday. Bangladesh, which defeated Kyrgyzstan 1-0 in the first match of the tournament, has secured a place in the final.
Nepal wasted more than half a dozen excellent opportunities in the match played at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor on Thursday. At the beginning of the game, Tej Tamang's free kick came out from near Anjan Bista's header post and Nepal took the lead in the fourth minute. Ananta Tamang's header came out in the corner of Tridev Gurung in the 9th minute. In the 14th minute, Anjan Bista's cross post was hit by Kyrgyzstan's defender. Nepal had a chance to score half a dozen times till the first half but could not make good use of it.
After fighting Abhishek Rijal in the second half, the Kyrgyz captain was sent off for a red card. Tasib Kamolidin was sent off by match referee Crystal John for a double yellow card. With just three minutes left in the game, another player was injured and Kyrgyzstan was limited to nine players. Nepal has not been able to make good use of this vacancy. In the first match with the support of the home crowd, Nepal created more than half a dozen chances to score but could not give a good end.
In the match to be played on Saturday, Nepal will ensure a match against Bangladesh again in the final after holding Bangladesh to a draw. However, Kyrgyzstan will face Bangladesh in the final if Nepal loses by more than 1-0.
