Chitwan, March 24. It has been difficult to control the forest fire in Chitwan. The fire in the community forest of the district including Chitwan National Park could not be brought under control.

Information Officer at the Forest Office, Bal Krishna Khanal, said that it was difficult to control the fire in the community forest connected to Bharatpur in time. The fire broke out in the last two days in Ramvel Community Forest, Satanchuli Community Forest and National Forest on Narayangarh-Muglin Road. Representatives of the community forest have informed that it is not possible to control the fire in the hilly areas as the fires are far away from the roads and settlements. According to the Division Forest Office, Chitwan, only about 100 hectares of the area was brought under control in time after a fire broke out in an area of ​​500 hectares in Chitwan last year.

Chitwan National Park covers an area of ​​952 square kilometers. Apart from this, a large area under the District Forest Office in Chitwan is also covered with forest. Chitwan is also connected to Parsa National Park and Nawalparasi National Forest. There are many fires in these areas from February to April. Chief Conservation Officer of Chitwan National Park, Annath Baral, says that those who depend on the intermediate zone for grass are setting fire to the seedlings. According to him, the park has been conducting controlled fires. He informed that the fire was set to build a grass field to cut down the bushes.

Air flight affected

No flight could be operated from Chitwan on Tuesday due to air pollution. There were 12 flight schedules at Bharatpur Airport on Tuesday. However, the airport said that the flight could not take off as the pollution level remained high till evening. Buddha Air was scheduled to operate eight flights on Tuesday. Chief of Buddha Air Bharatpur Bhakta Bahadur Basnet said that the flight could not take off due to low visibility. There were 4 such flights on Tuesday.
