Madhav Narayan's Bartalu in Changunarayan

Kathmandu, February 24: Bartalu, who has been fasting for Madhav Narayan on the Shalin River in Sankhus since Poush Shukla Purnima, has reached Changunarayan Temple for pilgrimage on Tuesday night.

 

Bartalu features a tradition of bathing in Sadaha at Changunarayan this morning and worshiping Madhav Narayan within the main temple of Changunarayan. this is often the third pilgrimage during the month-long fast of Madhav Narayan, which lasts till the complete moon of Magh Shukla. Earlier, Bartalu had made pilgrimage to Pashupati and Shesh Narayan of Dakshinkali and Panauti of Kavrepalanchok. Madhav Narayan's pilgrimage to Changunarayan is persisted the night of Magh Shukla Ekadashi. Bartalu had reached Changunarayan after 10 pm on Tuesday.

 

Pawan Lal Shrestha, editor of Lavanya Sandesh Weekly, which is published from Sankhu, told RSS that after taking a shower within the morning on the morning of Magh Shukla Dwadashi and worshiping Madhav Narayan's chariot at Changunarayan, Sankhu visited Bartalu to erode his own house.

 

After coming back from Bartalu Changunarayan to Sankhu today and having a meal reception , Bhimsen Jatra is held in Sankhu. there's a practice of going around Sankhu Bazaar. Of the 400 people that wont to fast Madhav Narayan last year, only 49 are kept safe this year thanks to the Corona epidemic. Mijendra Kaji Shrestha, chairman of the Madhav Narayan Swasthani Vrat and Shalin River Improvement Committee, said that 49 people including 35 women and 14 men are participating within the vrat this point and are preserving the culture of the normal Madhav Narayan Vrat.

 

After Corona, all the areas are open and visitors are coming to Shalin River with none hesitation. The committee has stated that devotees from different parts of the country have come to Shalin River spontaneously albeit the Shankharapur Municipality won't run the Madhav Narayan Mela.

 

The Madhav Narayan Mela has attracted more devotees than last year. Free sanitizers and masks are distributed to devotees who want to enter the Madhav Narayan Temple. Devotees coming elsewhere are miked to use masks and sanitizers. The Madhav Narayan Mela has increased the bustle within the historical, cultural and non secular city of Sankhu.

 

The public transport coming to Sankhu and Shalin River is crowded. With more devotees coming, there's no distance in traffic. Passengers are traveling in crowds. From Poush Shukla Purnima to Magh Shukla Purnima, Madhav Narayan fasts on the Shalin River in Sankhus. Devout devotees from different parts of the country also as from abroad are coming to Sankhu during this point .
